Trim native Mickey McKenna passed away six years ago, and each year since his friends and family (which includes such musicians as Seán Óg and Barney McKenna) have gathered in Trim to celebrate the man and his music. In 2008, arts group Alternative Entertainments, with whom Mickey worked on many projects over twenty years, including as a member of the acclaimed Tallafornian Mandolin Band, were asked to create an annual festival around the celebration. The festival has grown year-on-year and this year’s event promises to be even better again.

FRIDAY, JUNE 25th
Trim Library, 7.00pm
Official launch and wine reception, speeches by local dignitaries & Rose McKenna, Mickey’s sister, followed by music from Mickey’s cousin Seán Óg McKenna & Gerry Tully.
SATURDAY, JUNE 26th
Rathchairn Library
- Traditional fiddle master classes with Maire O’Keefe – 2.00pm – 4.00pm
- Jazz guitar workshop with Hugh Buckley – 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Trim Library
Interactive traditional workshop for children – 3.00pm – 4.00pm
Rock guitar workshops for teenagers – 4.00pm – 5.00pm
MAIN CONCERT: Trim Library, 7.30pm
