UNDERDOGS PROMOTIONS in association with GLEBE HOUSE (Old Rectory) Trim, former home of Richard Butler, Vicar of Trim will host Meteor Award winning singer-songwriter, JULIET TURNER (accompanied by guitarist, Brian Grace) for a very special intimate performance on Saturday, November 20th, 2010.
The evening commences with a candlelight wine and tapas reception hosted by The Wine Buff, Navan and Trim Bistro and Artisan Food outlet, An Troman at 6.45pm; while folk singer, Gerry Tully will open for Juliet Turner at 7.45pm. Some special spot prizes will be won during the evening, including a mounted/framed autographed live photograph of Juliet Turner by Trim Music Photographer, Enda Casey (Gasun Photography).
Juliet Turner is a compelling and witty live performer who began writing her own songs when she received a guitar for her fifteenth birthday. Her first album, ‘Lets Hear It for Pizza’ saw these songs released in 1996. Now, five albums later, including the engaging and intriguing double platinum ‘Burn The Black Suit (2000) and the platinum Season of the Hurricane (2004), Juliet Turner has performed and worked with some of the top names in the international Music Scene, including Bob Dylan, Natalie Merchant, Sting, U2, Brian Adams, Joan Armatrading & Brian Kennedy.
In Feb 2005 Juliet won an Irish Meteor Music Award for ‘Best Irish Female Performer’ and the album; “Juliet Turner – Live” subsequently appeared in November 2005, recorded over three nights in the Spirit Store, Dundalk. Since 2006, she has been studying for a BSc. in Clinical Speech and Language studies and managed also to release her fourth studio album; ‘People Have Names’ in 2008. At this time, the Irish Times described her as ‘one of the most intriguing of Irish female song writers, arriving several years ago with a guitar and a batch of brittle, poignant songs; her broad accent and even broader outlook; her bitter-sweet tastes all marking her as one to watch’, this new album showed an exploratory and unsentimental side to Turner’s songwriting and became her most critically acclaimed album to date!
Juliet Turner will no doubt receive a warm welcome to Trim and The Glebe House on Saturday, November 20th. The event is dedicated to Trim Photographer, Danny O’ Brien (RIP) and Derek Nally (RIP). Tickets (€35) for this event are available via The Wine Buff, Navan and An Troman, Trim. See www.underdogspromotions.com and www.facebook.com/underdogspromotions for further details.
